Jack Barakat has opened his own rock-themed bar called The Rockwell in Fell’s Point, Baltimore. He has spoken out to Alternative Press to say that the bar will be “purely a rock bar” and will not move from that genre.

The All Time Low guitarist is now co-owner of the bar, formerly known as Vale Tudo, alongside Bryan Burkert, who also owns the popular Baltimore record store Sound Garden. Barakat hosted a party at the bar this Saturday night, with bandmate Alex Gaskarth DJing the event.

In an interview with Alternative Press, Barakat spoke about his determination to stay away from the trends of other bars and stick only to rock music.

There haven’t been that many bars I go that have a rock ’n’ roll vibe like there used to be, kind of a craziness to them. It’s all about hip-hop and pop and mainstream music. I was like, “Let’s fucking do a bar that plays old ’80s rock and metal, new rock, old school, whatever it is—just plays good music. We don’t leave that genre. We don’t have a night where we do club night or whatever. We just want it to be purely a rock bar.”

Barakat will have to take a break from The Rockwell this coming February, as All Time Low team up with You Me At Six for a run of UK arena shows. Tickets for the co-headline tour are on sale now.
