Hellyeah are a band who have been allocated the title of “supergroup” by the media. A term the band themselves hate, however a quick look at the line up and it’s easy to see why. Comprising of members of Pantera (including Dimebag Darrell’s brother Vinnie Paul), Damageplan, Mudvayne, and Nothing face. Hellyeah is built with real hard rock aristocracy and recently graced the south west with their presence on the Rock Star energy drink tour, alongside Stonesour and Avenged Sevenfold.
Sat in the Plymouth Pavilions backstage catering area, watching my adolescent idols such as Chad Gray from Mudvayne and Hellyeah, and Jim Root from Slipknot and Stonesour have their dinner, I don’t mind admitting I was a little bit star struck! However I soon loosened up as I sat down to chat with Hellyeah Bassist Bob Zilla about everything from embarrassing tattoos and the weather, to Dimebag Darrell, Jimmy “the Rev” Sullivan and lots more.
