Hole front woman Courtney Love has revealed she was aware of Peaches Geldof’s drug addiction. The singer claims she tried to help the 25 year old but it “proved to be impossible”.
A former heroin addict, Love said she was visited by Geldof in 2010 at the Chateau Marmont Hotel, where she turned up with a friend and a bag of prescription drugs – including Oxycontin, also known as ‘hillbilly heroin’.
Love told Grazia magazine: “When I read heroin was involved I was not shocked. I know how Peaches liked opiates. My drug was heroin, I stopped taking it in the Nineties, but I have taken the pills, the Roxycontin, Oxycontin.”
“Peaches was unfortunately in my room with a friend who had a bag full of these drugs… like 500 pills and I wanted it so badly, never have I wanted anything more, no man, no money, and I had to physically push Peaches and her friend out the door.”
“I was shaking and kept thinking of the way her mother died and I thought I owe it to this girl to be an example. I was trying to help her, I was trying to mentor her, but that point in her life, it proved to be impossible,” she continued.
It has been confirmed that police have launched an investigation into who supplied Peaches with the class A drugs.
