Following the departures of the rest of his bandmates, vocalist Mark Hunter has put an end to speculation surrounding Chimaira by officially ending the band.

The Ohio band’s future began to look uncertain earlier this week when guitarist Emil Werstler left to “take the next step” in his career. This led to a fairly rapid destabilisation, as Matt Szlachta, Sean Zatorsky, Jeremy Creamer and Austin D’Amond all quit the band the following day, leaving Hunter as the sole remaining member.

Despite having previously resurrected the band in 2011 after a similar situation occurred, Hunter decided to end the metaller’s 15 year run:

“After 15 full-blown, ass-ripping years, it is with great honour I announce the end of Chimaira. Thanks to everyone that supported the group in any way, shape or form. Everyone involved with the band, from members to fans, put their heart and soul into this project. We achieved a lot. We bled a lot. It fucking ruled.”

Fans expecting to catch them on their scheduled October European Tour will be eligible for a full refund through Ticketmaster.
