It has been announced that Black Sabbath will headline the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park this July.
Friday July 6th, which is the first date of the festival, has been renamed Black Sabbath Time to mark the occasion as the band return after their 2012-2013 reunion tour. The original line-up has endured some recent troubles, including guitarist Tommy Iommi undergoing treatment for cancer and frontman Ozzy Osbourne relapsing into drinking and drug-taking last year, but they are determined to enjoy their festival appearance this year. Osbourne has said:
“The first time I came to London I didn’t have a pot to piss in and I spent the advance I got for the first album on a new pair of shoes and some Brut aftershave. Returning almost 50 years on, we are doing a bit better for ourselves so I may even splash out on some new aftershave before taking to the stage at Hyde Park, the most beautiful park in London that has opened its gates to so many legends in the past. We are beyond honoured to be allowed to put on a show and hope that the Royals will enjoy it!”
Other bands also announced for the Friday include Soundgarden, Faith No More, Motörhead, Gallows, Blitz Kids, Rise To Remain, and more.
