Australian rock veterans AC/DC have succeeded in breaking into the Official UK Top 40 Chart twice this week. Following the release of their back-catalogue on iTunes the band have seen a surge in sales taking ‘Highway To Hell’ and ‘Back In Black’ to numbers 40 and 27 respectively.
Not content with perhaps their most succesful charting to date, the rockers have also secured a top 20 album in the shape of Live at River Plate. The album entered this week’s chart at number 14, the sixth highest new entry into the album rundown behind the likes of Example, Little Mix and none other than Susan Boyle.
It has only been a relatively new feature of the charts to count online downloads, however the effect clearly demonstrates a more accurate representation of public musical interest. AC/DC mirror The Beatles who performed a similar feat following the release of their back-catalogue.
