Willis said: “I am so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I grew up watching EastEnders, so this is really exciting for me.”

The official account of EastEnders also tweeted welcomingly: “We’re delighted to announce @mattjwillis is joining #EastEnders for a short stint. Welcome to Walford Matt!”

Willis has confirmed that he will also be making a television appearance on ‘Birds of a Feather’, and will perform 35 concerts as part of McBusted in 2014.
