Pop group Little Mix have announced that they’ll be releasing the official single for this year’s Sport Relief.
They revealed the news on their Twitter account, stating: “We are really excited to announce this years official @SportRelief Single is called ‘Word Up’ sung by….. US!! xxLittle Mix xxx #SR14”
Perrie Edwards adds: “We’ve all seen people push themselves and do incredible things for Sport Relief, so it’s a dream come true to be releasing the official single this year. We can’t wait for you all to hear it!”
The single will be a cover of the 1986 Cameo hit ‘Word Up’, which reached #3 in the UK charts. To jog your memory, listen to the original here! The Little Mix rendition will be available digitally on the 16th March, and physical copies will be sold exclusively in Sainsbury’s the following day.
Sport Relief 2014 will take place from the 21st and 23rd March. 2012’s event raised a total of over £50 million, let’s see if we can top that this year!
