One Direction singer Liam Payne has spoken out about the portrayal of fans of his boyband in controversial Channel 4 documentary ‘Crazy About One Direction’.
“Just so all of you know we love you guys and we know how dedicated you are and tbh we can’t believe it that you guys spend all you time on us,” Tweeted Payne.
“We couldn’t give a f**k what any documentary says there dramatised for entertainment and full of bulls**t anyway we all know how hard you work for us and see it everyday at our shows.”
The program touched on subjects such as death threats, intense jealousy and a fantasy gay relationship some fans imagine Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles are involved in.
Many fans reacted hysterically on Twitter after the show portrayed One Direction fans as hysterical, fanatical devotees when it was aired on Thursday.
Shortly after the show the hashtag #ThisIsNOTUs – a pun on their upcoming movie ‘This Is Us’ – was trending worldwide.
One fan Tweeted: “This documentary has embarrassed all the fans that actually respect the boys and don’t send death threats to their loved ones.”
Another added: “Extremely embarrassing that people make us out to be total bitches.”
While one user said: “Really offended by The channel 4 interview. They made us out like were psycho’s And all we care about is stalking them.”
