Kylie Minougue – Costumes, Hotpants And Secret Weapons!

Kylie gives an insight into the wonders of her wardrobe, find out more HERE!

Kylie Minogue

We all have a celebrity we envy,  whether it’s their Florence Welch level of talent, their Kim Kardashian locks or, in Kylie’s case – their perfect derrière. We see a level of perfection that is, essentially, never going to be obtained, so it’s nice when the icons of our pop culture world let us know that things aren’t always as they seem!

Kylie has spoken out about her relationship with stylist William Baker, revealing she wasn’t always so keen on the extravagant wardrobe decisions: “I’ve felt way too exposed or trussed up in the past, half the outfits I can’t breathe in and some of them I have to be cut out of. I end up having a panic attack and want to get the damn thing off.”

Noting in particular, the Julien Macdonald dress she wore to the 2000 MTV Awards was uber-racy even by Jennifer Lopez‘s standards – pictured below. The singer went on to say: “I had William and a choreographer, two gays, in the dressing room with me. They rugby tackled me out the door shouting: ‘You have to wear that!'”

While she was happy with the overall look, the Australian commented on how things may look fantastic, but “what it feels like to be in something, and how someone sees you wearing it, are two very different things.”  We’re not the only ones to obsess over an outfit then after friends, family and boyfriends tell you ‘you look fine!’ ? Good to know!

If you’re thinking that Kylie should speak her mind and just say no, then fear not, the star is prepared for such occasions of rebellion by arming her handbag with a secret weapon – a single Louboutin heel. Ready and waiting to strike from across the room!

One of the most iconic outfits Kylie has worn are the gold hot-pants in the Spinning Around video. But the famous cheeky pants happened by sheer coincidence:

“My girlfriend bought them for 50p at a market – I think it was North End Road in Kensington. They were living in my cupboard for a while. They loitered in the back of the wardrobe until William was having a snoop around for the Spinning Around video. He pulled out these tiny gleaming things and said: ‘What about these?’ I like their very humble beginnings and that they went on to be one of the most iconic things I’ve ever worn.”

So ladies, get digging in those charity shops and vintage markets, you may just unearth a piece of fashion history.
