After taking a break from her much deserved success in the part two years, Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé is marking her return to the music scene.

However, it doesn’t look as though her creativity is being poured solely into a project of her own, as her recent comments at the 2014 Ivor Novella Awards seem to imply.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Sandé said: “There’s been a lot going on. I’ve been back in [the studio] with Naughty Boy, which has been amazing. I’ve been writing for Rihanna‘s new album, which has been incredible.”

She further added that she has been in the studio with Rodney Jerkins, a.k.a Darkchild, too.

Since her success with her debut album Our Version Of Events, Sandé has been drafted in to pen songs for Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys and the aforementioned Rihanna. It would mark the second time that she has contributed her writing skills to an album of Rihanna’s, having previously written the song ‘Half Of Me’ for her seventh studio album Unapologetic back in 2012, which managed to peak at number ten on the UK R&B chart and number 75 on the UK Singles Chart, on the strength of digital downloads alone, despite not being a single (it was a bonus track) and no promotion.

Rihanna has had some very successful ballads, and if a non-single bonus track co-written by Sandé can create such an impact, we think that it may be in Rihanna’s interest to release a Sandé penned song as an official single.
