Yesterday saw a flurry of bets placed on The Stone Roses to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival. At this stage, this is all rumours, but it would appear that the surge in bets for the group, who were only seen as an outsider bet previously, would suggest that there is some insider knowledge hinting towards the group’s appearance.
As things stand, Taylor Swift remains the bookies favorites, with her odds standing at evens, but surely with a rock act (Foo Fighters) and a rapper playing (Kanye West) Friday and Saturday respectively, the smart money would be on a traditional indie act taking a slot, with one headlining pretty much every year since the festivals inception.
Blur are also being strongly tipped, following the announcement of ‘The Magic Whip’. Rumour has it an announcement will be made later today.
The Stone Roses have been largely absent from the public eye since 2013’s appearance at The Isle Of Wight Festival, with rumours circulating of the band’s split. The band signed a publishing deal with multiple record companies on their reformation in 2011, and a re-appearance at such a high profile event would strongly suggest the emergence of new Stone Roses material.
As always, we’ll bring you more news as it comes in!
