There For Me‘ – Mariah Carey

Co-written by Mariah Carey in collaboration with Diane Warren during recording sessions for Carey’s seventh album Rainbow (1999), this inspirational ballad about being there for someone in hard times finally got to see the light of day in 2001, when it was released as the B-side to Carey’s charity release, ‘Never Too Far/Hero Medley’ in 2001, in aid of the 9/11 attacks. It is sung for the most part in soft, whispery falsetto coos, before reaching a climax in the final chorus. Out of Carey’s numerous B-sides during her 24 year career, this is the definitive unrecognised Carey B-side that deserves attention!
