Sir Paul McCartney has unveiled a previously unseen photograph of The Beatles. The image, featured here, was taken by Jim Marshall in 1966 at the band’s last official concert. Although the band played a spontaneous gig on the roof of Apple’s headquarters in 1969, this appearance at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park was their last ticketed performance.

McCartney played this same venue on Thursday night (August 14) in a show billed ‘Farewell to Candlestick: The Final Concert’ which marked the closing of the venue after 54 years. He performed to a 50,000 strong crowd whilst images from Marshall’s collection, including this one, were displayed on a large screen.

The show was the latest on McCartney’s current sold out tour. The tour was recently resumed after the singer took time off after being hospitalised due to a virus.
