It has been reported that Neil Young told off members of the audience at a New York gig for clapping and talking between songs.
At the show, which took place at Carnegie Hall on Monday night, the singer-songwriter reportedly shouted “Wrong!” at the audience for clapping out of beat to ‘Ohio’. “It’s something that you probably don’t know,” he continued, “but there’s a hell of a distance between you and me.”
As well as picking up on the crowd’s out-of-rhythm clapping, Young also shouted at audience members for talking between songs. To two people chatting whilst he tuned his harmonica, Young is reported to have said:“No, you paid real good money to get in here, so you should be able to listen to each other.”
Neil Young is set to play a summer show at Hyde Park with Crazy Horse on July 12 along with The National, Tom Odell, Caitlin Rose, Phosphorescent and Flyte.
