The Manic Street Preachers released the Holy Bible 20 years ago and their fans have been begging the Welsh trio to do an anniversary tour. But until the Manics announce any tour plans, they have announced a recording session for BBC 4’s Mastertapes next month.

The band will play songs from their sacred album followed by a Q&A at London’s legendary Maida Vale studios on September 19th. The BBC stated that “This will be a unique opportunity to hear James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore talk about (and perform tracks from) the album that has been hailed as ‘a work of genuine genius’ and ‘one of the best albums of the ’90s’… with a ‘life-affirming force that hits you with the very first song’.” Tickets for the even are available here.

Talking to the NME Nicky Wire reported that they will definitely know by the end of September. “It’s been a road test all year – that album was always about something more, so we’ve got to get that in our psyche. This is the first year that we’ve played those songs and felt comfortable, we’ve been doing six or seven. If there’s ever a time to do it, then it’s now.”
