Hailing from the punk capital, Camden, The Mercanaries have hit audiences hard all over the UK with their upbeat, dance-punk, social commentary style music. In their short time as a band they have created a strong following of loyal fans, headlined the legendary Camden Crawl and played after-show’s for the Happy Mondays and Noel Gallagher! It doesn’t feel right to compare this band to others out there but to give you a generalised idea, think of the above artists combined with (in their own words) “the attitude and passion of greats like The Clash & The Sex Pistols“! This is definitely something that comes across in their live shows with the explosion of strong beats, incredible riffs, catchy melodies and honest lyrics making it almost impossible not to move your feet. The Mercanaries seem to just emit positive energy that the crowd can’t help but absorb, it’s a party from the moment they step on stage!
To the guys in the band, this isn’t just a side project or a race to see who can make the most money and be famous for the sake of being famous, they seem to be on a mission to change the way we view music, to make it fun and meaningful again. They’ve cut away everything that is pretentious about the industry keeping their sound raw and real, making it genuinely a real pleasure to kick back and listen too.
