Half Mast: Drummer Janet Weiss Admits That Wild Flag ‘Ran Its Course’

US indie supergroup Wild Flag may have called it quits after only one release. Find out what drummer Janet Weiss had to say about it.

Portland/Washington based Indie songstresses Wild Flag received high praise for their 2011 self titled debut album. But after drummer Janet Weiss was quoted as saying the band ‘ran its course’, it looks like this could be the last we hear from them.

Speaking to The Skinny, Weiss said that “It was great but I think it just kinda ran its course. Its hard to have a band when you live five hours apart by plane”.

It seems like the members have indeed moved away from their work with Wild Flag, with Weiss and Carrie Brownstein returning to newly-reformed Sleater-Kinney last month, performing together after seven years. Sharing the stage at Portland’s Moda Center with Pearl Jam, they were joined by Corin Tucker and REM’s Peter Buck to perform a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’.

We wish all of the Wild Flag girls the best of luck with their future endeavors.
