Pink Floyd guitar legend David Gilmour has announced he is working on a new solo album, due to hit stores next year.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine Gilmour confirmed that the follow up to 2006 album On An Island is “coming along very well”. He added “There are some sketches that aren’t finished, and some of them will be started again. There’s a few months’ work in it yet. I’m hoping to get it out this following year.”

Gilmour also remarked that he plans to go on “an old man’s tour…not a 200-date sort of thing”. Pink Floyd will release The Endless River, deriving from sessions in 1994, next month and Gilmour has confirmed it will be the group’s final album telling Rolling Stone “There’s no room for Pink Floyd. The thought of doing any more causes me to break out in a cold sweat.”
