This Friday, May 11th, Playhard is back for its monthly installment and it continues its commitment to new and independent music with a very special guest in addition to its stellar live line up, showcasing the UK’s hottest emerging bands and solo artists, as well as covering and promoting new music.
For an amazing night of music and fun it is hard to beat and feels like history in the making.
Playhard streams live world wide so that people from NYC to Tokyo can be there for the party and see the great bands live.
Jon Brookes of the Charlatans will be there to meet and chat about the philosophy behind his independent label One Beat Records and what the future holds for new bands trying to emerge. Jon is a driving force behind the resurgence of talent from Birmingham getting a voice in the industry.

With a wealth of media and industry mixing at the bar and/or creating new content from the high percentage of artists in the crowd (including filmed interviews, photography, music writers and industry scouts) Playhard is THE London event for what’s what at close range, and a great and unmissable opportunity for independent bands and artists to chat to people in the industry and to get some insider advice on how to make it in the music business.
Mark Morriss, played his first solo artist show for the Playhard crew after the classic british guitar band he fronted, The Bluetones, split last September. Naturally blessed with both charm and style, Mark was born to entertain. Mixing gorgeous folky pop songs from his solo album, ‘Memory Muscle’, with live favourites from The Bluetones. The tidiest man in pop.
The Ghosts – Electro beat brilliance residing in the club charts with new single ‘Ghosts’, gathering a massive buzz at a rate of knots and a MUST see, in celebration of their debut album, ‘The End’ released this month and already magnetising superlatives The Ghosts new album The End celebrated at live world wide stream on 11 May
The Filthy Habits – This 21st century hybrid of The Stones, Arctic Monkeys, The Hives and Primal Scream beat 10,000 artists to win Best Live And UnSigned Indie Act 2011 while only a year old. They’ve had airplay on Absolute Radio, BBC6 Music and BBC Essex and formed their own label ‘Filthy Records’ in November’. Get in!
Former member of pop rockers,The Faders, Molly McQueen has come into her own with her spanking songs that have earned her a deal. Having written with Katie Melua, she is now working on her own debut album and returned from L.A, to have fun in the UK live scene again, recently touring as support for Melanie C.

No*Tokyo – Formed in 2009, Manchester’s No*Tokyo have taken their time getting to the point where they are happy to put out studio material, concentrating instead on becoming a consistent live act, renowned for incendiary intensity. The eponymous debut EP is worth the wait as will this show be!
