British Sea Power announce ‘Sea of Brass’ tour

Britain’s most eccentric band? British Sea Power are very familiar with odd means of playing live. Previously they have performed at The National History Museum and on England’s highest pub. So an idea of the Brighton band going on tour with regional brass bands isn’t exactly a shock.

The ‘Sea Of Brass’ tour, will start in Durham’s International Festival and end at a secret venue in Kendal, where half of the band grew up. They will play five dates in full alongside a number of brass bands from the UK.

Peter Wraight, the music arranger said that “I wanted to create Brass Band arrangements which made full use of the forces within a 28-piece Brass Band. I didn’t want to lean on some of the pastoral associations with brass music but instead create something challenging for the players and hugely rewarding for the listener. It’s about playing with textures, and I am using a full percussion section to compliment the toned instruments and create drama and excitement.”

Tickets are available here. Full dates for the tour are below:

Durham International Festival, with NASUWT Riverside Brass Band July 17th
Bexhill De La Warr Pavillion with Redbridge Brass Band October 24th
London Barbican Centre with Redbridge Brass Band October 25th
Gateshead Sage with NASUWT Riverside Brass Band October 26th
Coventry Warwick Arts Centre with Jaguar Land Rover Brass Band November 7th
Kendal Secret Venue with Ulverston Town Brass Band November 8th
