The Brit Awards may have had their worst TV Audience in over a decade( 18% down on last year). but it’s still doing a good job of showcasing some of the Uk’s finest talent.
Many artists including The Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure and Bastille all saw their albums sales soar. Disclosures debut album ‘Settle‘ have increased by 138%. Even David Bowie’s album ‘The Next Day‘ which was released nearly a year ago had a sales increase of 107%.
Martin Talbot, Managing Director of the Official Charts Company said “”The Brits is one of the biggest music talking points of the year – and is again proving its power in influencing sales too.It is great that so many excellent new British acts are seeing the benefit this year. Double congratulations to Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure and Basti-mental!”
Just a shame that The Brits couldn’t showcase some of the talent under most of audience’s radar. Many of the acts who performed have already had a great chart presence already. Wouldn’t it be more rewarding for the British music industry for some of the smaller artists to be given a leg up by the show?
