The Best Debuts Albums Of The 00’s

We asked our writers what their favourite debut albums of the 00’s were, check out their responses here!

You Me At Six – Take Off Your Colours

You Me At Six are one of the few rock bands I have actually been a fan of since the early days. It was ‘Jealous Minds Think Alike’ that initially caught my attention and lead to me purchasing the album. I guess you would class it as their poppiest album, as much as I still love their newer stuff, their debut just sounded a lot more fun than anything else they’ve written. While I don’t think you can fault any of the songs on there (Although Josh Franceschi would disagree) ‘Jealous Minds…’ will always be my favourite track.

Andrew WK – I Get Wet

Andrew WK came down from the heavens on the back of a nuclear missile designed, not to kill…… but rock! I Get Wet is one of those albums that is ridiculous. It should be a terrible pastiche of 80’s hair metal, but instead is one of the finest pop records of the decade with more hooks than a pirate convention. Andrew WK taught us how to party and how to rock, whilst sporting a white t-shirt, white sneakers and a bloody nose.
