Alex Turner has revealed that Arctic Monkeys are in no rush to pen their sixth album, suggesting that they still have unfinished business with hugely popular, record-breaking, AM. Released in 2013, it has been the band’s most successful effort to date and as a result Turner claimed that there is still plenty to do in terms of promoting and touring their latest LP. In an interview with NME, the frontman said: “We’re going to keep going [with touring] until the summer and beyond that a little bit, maybe. I don’t know. I wouldn’t think it’ll be too soon that we do the next one.” New found popularity across the Atlantic was also cited as a reason to delay a new release. “It’s been going really well in America and there’s still lots of shit still to do on this album.” He added: “I don’t feel, for once, that we need to rush and get on to the next thing. It seems like a good place to leave it for a minute.” Following their recent Finsbury Park shows, Arctic Monkeys will headline T in the Park and Reading & Leeds festivals later this summer.
