Could Arcade Fire be joined on stage this weekend, when they take to the Pyramid stage to headline Glastonbury Festival on Friday? Lead guitarist Richard Reed Parry, speculated about the possibility of a duet when talking to the NME this week. “I can’t tell you in advance but we may have Somerset artists. Its been a real joy these last few months. Most nights we’ve tried to do that and its been really inspiring and fun learning a song every day.”
The Montreal indie giants have already sung with Debbie Harry during a cover of Blondie‘s ‘Heart Of Glass‘ at this year’s Coachella Festival in California and Ian McCulloch appeared on stage at last month’s Earls Court gig in London to share vocals on Echo And The Bunnymen‘s ‘The Cutter‘.
With so many bands down to play the festival this weekend, social media has be array with gossip and anticipation of who will be appearing on stage. As Win Butler seems to adore 80’s new wave, they could drag on stage Debbie again to do a Blondie cover, as her band play the same day. But another amazing choice would be Bryan Ferry for a cover of Roxy Music‘s ‘Love Is The Drug‘, or Dolly Parton for a unforgettable version of ‘9 to 5‘. Sadly The Proclaimers are not performing at Worthy Farm this year.
