The Young Punx – GIRLS LIKE DISCO (Feat. Birdee) [HTF VIDEO EXCLUSIVE]

CHECK OUT THE NEW & EXCLUSIVE TO HIT THE FLOOR VIDEO FROM THE YOUNG PUNX FOR THEIR NEW TRACK ‘GIRLS LIKE DISCO’

We have been lucky enough to be able to bring to you exclusively the new hypnotic, slightly erotic, kaleidoscope video from The Young Punx for their new release Girls Like Disco !

The group brings together dance music fusing it with old school sounds of disco and funky basslines. Returning with a 2-track release ‘GIRLS LIKE DISCO BOYS LIKE BASS’. Which is ‘celebrating their love of all things disco and bass’. This release sees The Young Punx collaborating with kings of the Italian Turbofunk sound, Birdee (Southern Fried) and Reset! (Cheap Thrills, Dim Mak).

The well respected and devoted group consisting of Hal Ritson and long time collaborators DJ Nathan Taylor and percussionist & vibes man Simon Bettison. DJ Nathan Taylor have also had the likes of  Yolanda Quartey of Massive Attack, Count Bass D, Amanda Palmer and Laura Kidd gracing the groups tracks with their vocals!

The band own and run both MofoHifi and Heavy Disco Records, playing host to the likes of Bobby Tank, Phonat and Alizzz.

Shot simply on the lead members iPhone whilst in China it was then later handed over to Han Hoogerbrugge  (who is responsible for nearly all Young Punx artwork and visuals since 2005) who created this master piece adding in the odd pole dancer and making the footage compliment the track perfectly. Lead man Hal  was right in thinking that “You couldn’t really ask for more for a song called “Girls Like Disco” than some candid found footage of women dancing very intensely in a strange setting.”

Band member Hal Ritson has his fingers in many a musical pie and outside of The Young Punx produces, performs with and writes for the likes of Nas, CeeLo Green, Rizzle Kicks, Chase N Status, Chris Malinchak, Lil Wayne, Avicii, Eric Prydz and many more.

So when it came to making this video Hal had this to say:

“This isn’t a video that came about in any planned commercial way. A couple of month’s back I was in China playing Young Punx gigs in Beijing and Shanghai, and while walking down Nanjing Road in Shanghai I stumbled upon this surreal and bewitching spectacle of literally hundreds of middle aged Chinese women, studiously and diligently dancing a bizarre mixture of disco, chinese traditional and line-dancing moves. I don’t know the back story. I guess it’s just their idea of a good night out. The incongruity of it was like discovering some weird unexplained congregation of hundreds of wild animals in nature…God knows what kind of video this makes, but I love how organic and unplanned it is. A team effort that would never have emerged from a corporate A&R meeting in a million years…”

And we couldn’t agree more! The single was released as a Beatport exclusive on 22nd July and is due for general release, including iTunes on 5th August 2013! Check it out in all its trippy glory below and let us know what you think!
