Dubstep may be enjoying its last fifteen minutes of fame as the once under the radar genre is being slowly but surely introduced into mainstream media care of the larger than life rock group Muse but famed Fatboy Slim is predicting that Skrillex will be able to stand the test of time.
The not so new kid on the block charged up to Slim drunk at a party excitedly stating that Slim’s the reason Skrillex wanted to experiment with the musically dark art! Slim then proceeded to throw a little dose of ‘Praise You’ at his newfound friend & fan. Aside from the admiration Slim so obviously has for Skrillex the tenured DJ extraordinaire says the younger protege reminds him a lot of himself back in the day- hey, not half bad. HTF agrees with Slims’ Skrillex-concerned musical forecast and after standing behind a set of his in a tent at Victoria park an English Summer ago and watching the mixmaster conduct an elite orchestra of buttons, knobs, & the like it’s obvious his performance is never anything short of entrancing.
What’s next to watch out for in the coming months? Well we’ll go ahead and agree with Slim in his hypothesis that since dub-is-stepping into the light the more musically experienced with the genre DJ’s will look for a challenge elsewhere, so Skrillex we’re all waiting for what’s next. No pressure or anything! The moral of the story though? We concur, Slim. Skrillex: hear today, not gone tomorrow.
