For those thinking of moving in near a live music venue, a petition has been set up to introduce mandatory noise complaint wavers to prevent anyone trying to shut down music venues in the UK.

With over 19,000 signatures, the petition is aiming to safeguard venues from closure or loss of licence if people knowingly moving into the area enforce a noise complaint against them.

Drum ‘n’ Bass label Exit Records has thrown its support behind the campaign, as has Benji B’s Deviation. This comes after the Ministry Of  Sound faced closure earlier this year due to a housing development being built next to the site of the Elephant and Castle nightclub.

The petition itself reads; “Music is a key British export and to endanger our strong national artist community is to endanger a key British industry … As such, anyone who wishes to buy or rent a property within a determined distance of a music venue should have to read and sign legislature that waives their right to complain about the noise from the nearby venue.”

Sign up to the petition in the link below, before March 30th 2015 to make your voice heard. If you are a true advocate of live music, then for the love of all that is right in the world, sign up!
