After a year’s work on the follow up to ‘Congratulations’, MGMT revealed that their new album will be released June 2013. The band also revealed in an interview that this new album has been influenced mostly by Aphex Twin and house music.
Although we do not know the album title, artwork or even official date release, we know that some of the songs are entitled ‘Mystery Disease’ and ‘Alien Days’. There also is a cover of ‘Introspection’, from the 60’s garage band Faine Jade.
Member Ben Goldwasser commented on their music that they are “not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it… There’s no illusion on [Columbia Records] part that that we’re going to turn into a Top 40 band.” . The duo has been recording the whole album themselves rather than using a full band.
