It is with great sadness we report that founding member of LFO, Mark Bell, has passed away due to medical complications due to recent hospital surgery. Warp Records were the first to break this news on Monday, with a statement that was issued on their official website.
Mark Bell was a pioneering producer within the electronic music scene, who started off in the early 90’s with acid house / techno creation LFO with best friend Gez Farley. Their top 20 hit ‘LFO’ was a main source of inspiration within the early 90s rave movement, and has been labelled as one of the pioneering songs of that era.
Bell has more notably collaborated with Bjork on co-producing her album ‘Homogenic’, as well as all future releases from there. He was also the producer for Depeche Mode‘s ‘Exciter’ album.
We at Hit The Floor Magazine would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mark Bell at this difficult time.
