Legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has passed away at the age of 70 years old.
Though the cause of death is not yet confirmed, the musician suffered from cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, and battled with drug addiction.
The singer had collaborated with many people in his life including Damon Albarn when he did vocals for the Gorillaz, and on his own RnB material such as 2012’s ‘The Bravest Man In The Universe‘, which was critically applauded for its unique electronic music / beats based composition. A posthumous album is expected to come out later this year.
Tributes have been coming in for Bobby Womack from all over the music world, including Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Public Enemy‘s Chuck D and Damon Albarn.
We at Hit The Floor wish to pay our respects, and send our sympathies to Womack’s family and friends at this time.
