Azealia Banks Scraps Disclosure Collaboration

Details on Azealia Banks and Disclosure’s falling out here…

Azealia Banks has scrapped a collaboration with Disclosure, which was set to appear on her upcoming debut album Broke With Expensive Taste. “I did something with Disclosure but they were, like, really rude in an interview, so I canned it.” She also reported in an interview that she might leak the track:

I might leak it, though, and to be honest, I’ve got better stuff on my record… It can be an f-side. A fuck-you side.”

Disclosure, consisting of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, have responded, saying that they don’t care if she leaks the track: “I don’t give a damn if she leaks it,” Howard told an Australian radio station. Jokingly, he said: “We’re actually terrible, terrible people. Have you seen the interview where we were rude? It was so bad compared to what she said.

Brother Guy added: “We just wrote the first verse and a build-up – there wasn’t a chorus – and she kind of took it away, then she thought we were rude in that interview, but we apologised and everything. It didn’t seem to matter that we apologised … We made the beat on the way there in the car, so I don’t give a damn if she uses it. Whatever. Maybe when I said [in the interview] that she’s ‘taken to it quite heavily’, it came across as rude – but what I meant was that whenever we’ve worked with anyone in the past, we just keep it secret. Because if nothing comes of the session, nobody’s disappointed. But if you build all the hype before, then you have to deliver an amazing song.

Broke With Expensive Taste‘, was originally scheduled for release in September 2012 but has since been delayed on several occasions. The rapper has recently revealed that is now due to come out next January (2014). Banks is expected to debut songs from the album during her one-off headline gig at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on November 30.
