This week, it’s fair to say Ed Sheeran has absolutely dominated the charts with his new album Divide. Unsurprisingly, the album went straight to number one, but more impressively, every song from the record ended up in the top 20 singles chart (the first artist to ever do this), taking up nine out of the top 10 (damn you Chainsmokers and Coldplay)!
Divide has become the fastest-selling male album of all time, shifting 672,000 in one week and it received the most amount of streams in a week ever with over 79,000. He has even set a new record for the most top 10 singles from an album with 10. The previous holder was Calvin Harris with nine songs from his album 18 Months.
Ed Sheeran just beat my UK record top 10s from 1 album in ONE WEEK congrats Ed but also fuck you I love you but also fuck you ❤️@edsheeran

Incredible stuff, right? But Ed isn’t the first pop star to break a world record, oh no. There’s plenty more where that came from; take a look below at some more of our favourite record breaking pop stars.
[separator type=”thin”]
Miley Cyrus: the most searched pop star on the Internet
It probably doesn’t come as much surprise to anyone that Miley holds this record, what with her ‘Wrecking Ball’ video antics and that time she hosted the 2015 VMAs and everyone watching felt like they were on a bad trip. But hey, it certainly got people talking (or more importantly, googling).
Metallica: the first band to perform on all seven continents
Okay, not technically pop but certainly too impressive to ignore. After they performed in Antarctica in 2013 to 120 scientists (sounds like a wild show, right), the US heavy metal band became the first band to have played a concert on all seven continents. The band actually managed to perform in all seven within one year, amazing!
One Direction: the first act to debut at number one with their first four albums
Demi Lovato: the youngest X Factor judge
When Demi first became a judge on the second season of The X Factor USA, she was just was 19 years 9 months 5 days old (to be precise), making her the youngest-ever judge!
Hunter Hayes: the most live concerts in 24 hours in different cities
Justin Bieber: youngest solo artist to achieve five No.1 US albums
Taylor Swift: the first solo female act with three million-selling weeks on the U.S. album charts
It looks like our favourite pop stars aren’t just pretty faces after all. Well done everyone and thanks for making our CVs look terrible in comparison.
