Leonard Nimoy, who most of us know as much-loved character Spock from legendary sci-fi series Star Trek, died this morning (Friday) at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 83. His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed the news and stated the cause of death as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The actor has been open about his illness since he was diagnosed, writing on Twitter last year: “Just can’t walk distances. Love my life, family, friends and followers.

Nimoy was hospitalised earlier this week after his condition worsened, and posted a final tweet on 23rd February (Monday) which read: “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP.

Rest in peace, Spock.
