Stephen Fry has just been confirmed as a cast member in the upcoming CBBC remake of Danger Mouse, acting as the voice for Colonel K. Originally voiced by The Archers’ Edward Kelsey, Colonel K is a chinchilla spy, and Danger Mouse’s secret service boss.

The main role of Danger Mouse, originally voiced by Sir David Jason, will now be played by Pointless host Alexander Armstrong. Joining Armstrong will be his quiz-show co-host, Richard Osman, who will be voicing mastermind Professor Strontium Jellyfishowitz.

Osman said of his involvement in the show:

As a lifelong fan of the show and a slightly more recent fan of Armstrong I could not be more delighted to be playing my own small part in this incredible new version of Danger Mouse.

Other confirmed cast members are Kayvan Novak, Ed Gaughan, Shauna MacDonald, Morwenna Banks and Come Dine With Me’s Dave Lamb. It has also been hinted by the CBBC controller that “characters that might have been male in the past will now be female“, so we can expect a higher number of female cast members.

So far the new reboot has been commissioned for 52 episodes which are due to be aired this year – so watch this space!
