Tomorrow night, Channel 4 are set to broadcast a documentary/drama special which imagines what British life would be like if UKIP gained power in the country. Using policies outlined by Nigel Farage, leader of the party, Channel 4 have depicted an era of drunken, mindless racism that could happen if the party are favoured in May’s elections.
The docu-drama, called UKIP: The First Hundred Days, will use real clips of party speeches, along with a scripted scenario to show how the party’s leadership would affect Britain. Channel 4 head of documentaries, Nick Mirsky, has denied claims the docu-drama is a form of scaremongering. He said: “A lot of research has gone into it. We wanted to create a drama that feels plausible.”
The producer of the show, Richard Bond, also said “I hope Nigel Farage watches it. I think he will find it plausible. We explore the policies Ukip are clear about, and imagine what would happen if they were implemented.”
Ukip: The First Hundred Days, will air on Channel 4 tomorrow at 9pm.
