Bryan Cranston has confirmed that he will not reprise his role as meth-cook Walter White for the upcoming Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, but will be involved in the project as a director.
Cranston has other directors credits for episodes of Breaking Bad when he took a turn behind the camera for episodes including “Blood Money.”
The rumours of Walter’s return were started by Cranston himself during a CNN interview in which he said “never say never” concerning a return. Cranston has since said about the interview:
I think it was on the Ashley Banfield show on CNN, and she brought up the speculation. I was just toying with her and said, ‘I don’t know!’ which created a whole brushfire of rumour. I don’t think that we’re going to see any kind of rebirth of that show, or that character.“
