So, the features of the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have finally been revealed and they look great!

The screen size and general appearance remains the same as its predecessor but there’s plenty more to feast your eyes on. Below are five new features that Apple fans will love!

1. Rose Gold Colour

Apple have introduced a new colour to the iPhone, Rose Gold (shown above between the Gold and Space Grey versions). Perfect for those who are looking to add a feminine touch to their iPhone! The metallic sheen of the iPhone has always made it a very aesthetically pleasing phone but with more colours being introduced, eventually everyone will be able to own the ideal colour to suit them. The Rose Gold can also be paired with a Rose Gold coloured Apple Watch for those hardcore Apple fans among us!

2. 3D Touch

Developers have added a new element to the touch-screen features by introducing the new 3D Touch, hailed on their website as “the next generation of Multi-Touch.” Now, your iPhone can not just track movement but also sense how much pressure is made against the screen. So, in addition to the current touch-screen features such as tap, swipe and pinch, you can now also “peek” and “pop” with your thumb. Touching the screen lightly will allow you to “peek” at notifications, emails and apps without opening them. If you’d then like to open them, press slightly harder and they’ll “pop” onto your screen. What sorcery is this?!

3. Improved Camera

Although the camera quality hasn’t improved quite as much as the rumours suggested and fans expected, it’s still a better quality camera than the 5s and previous models. The back-facing camera offers 12 megapixel quality, whilst the front-facing camera only offers 5 MP. Videos will be recorded in 4K.

The iPhone is completely dwarfed if you compare it to, say, the Sony Xperia Z4, which offers 20.7 MP. But, Apple have assured us that “great photos aren’t just measured in megapixels“.

Apple specify on their website that other improvements have been made to the camera and developers have “added a state-of-the-art sensor, a new image signal processor, advanced pixel technology, Focus Pixels, improved local tone mapping, and optical image stabilization.” So, now you can guarantee that every photo of spag bol you post on Instagram will have be the best quality possible, what more could you ask for?

4. Live Photo Feature

Although this is technically a camera feature, it’s so cool we thought it could have a section all to itself! The new Live Photo feature links your picture with the memory it came from, by video and audio recording the seconds before and after the photo itself. These moments will be saved onto your iPhone for your future viewing delights. Your photos will literally come alive on the screen as you browse! Now we’re seriously into Hogwarts territory here!

5. Speedy A9 Processor

Apple have even worked hard to improve the features we can’t see, such as the inside workings and processing speed. The iPhone 6s will run on an A9 chip which has been recently developed. According to macworld.com, the new chip is “70% faster than the A8, and 90% faster when it comes to graphics performance… A9 chip is paired with an M9 motion co-processor that collects health and fitness data to help the A9 run more efficiently and concentrate on other tasks.” Even though most of us won’t notice the difference, it’s nice to see Apple working hard to improve the efficiency and speed of their products too.

The iPhone 6s’ official release date is the 25th September but the new models are available for pre-order right now. So, what are you waiting for?!
