When Bryan Singer, director of the first two X-Men movies, signed on to direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past, everyone rejoiced and hoped that it would be something special. Given its opening weekend takings and reviews it seems to be and the film is currently wowing audiences in the cinema, following its release last Friday.
Singer also confirmed that the next film in the franchise would be titled X-Men: Apocalypse and recently he announced that he would be returning to helm that as well.
Writer of The Last Stand, First Class and Days Of Future Past, Simon Kinberg, has been discussing the plans for Apocalypse, describing it as a disaster movie. He said: “The kind of scope and scale we’re talking about is like disaster movie, extinction level event. Sort of Roland Emmerich-style moviemaking, which you’ve never seen in an X-Men movie, or any superhero movie, which I think is exciting.”
James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence will all be reprising their roles and with the film scheduled for release on May 27, 2016 we will have to wait and see what Singer, Kinberg and co will be able to create with one of the greatest adversaries of the X-Men.
