Vincent D’Onofrio, best known for his as Gomer Pyle in Full Metal Jacket, has been cast as King Pin in the upcoming Marvel and NetFlix TV series, Daredevil.
The news at the end of last month about director Drew Goddard stepping down from directing the series came as a major blow to Marvel’s aspirations, but this is now something of a coup with D’Onofrio having only done a handful of small-screen work in the past.
King Pin, real name Wilson Frisk, was previously played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 adaptation and is the main villain in the Daredevil universe.
“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining Marvel’s Daredevil in such an integral role,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. He continued: “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero.”
Daredevil is scheduled to shoot in New York in the summer for a release in 2015 on NetFlix.
