We’ve already seen a snippet of Len Wiseman’s adaptation of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 Total Recall, but Columbia Pictures have revealed a brand new trailer for everyone to feast their eyes upon. Total Recall stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy. Check out the official trailer below!
Welcome to Rekall, where your dreams can be turned into real memories! Sounds like the perfect solution for Douglas Quaid (Farrell), a factory worker stuck in the same boring routine. Even though Quaid has a beautiful wife (Beckinsale) whom he adores; he wants more, he wants excitement and believes that Total Rekall is the perfect break from life he needs. But things never work out as planned and Douglas becomes a wanted man on the run, where his once loving wife becomes a gun-wielding killing machine who works for the police. Fantasy and reality become intertwined and it is up to Quaid to return to his true identity before it’s too late.
The trailer gives us an insight into a Blade Runner-esque feature with magnetic car chases, impressive fight scenes and a very confused Colin Farrell. Len Wiseman’s adaptation only hints at Verhoeven’s original, with an improved script written by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback. But are we ready to let go of the Verhoeven/Schwarzenegger duo?
Total Recall will reach our screens on August 29th but if you want to refresh your memory of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s depiction of Douglas Quaid then the original will return to our screens on July 6th! The question is… who plays the character best?
