Disney announced back in April that they are currently working on a sequel to their 1993 film, Hocus Pocus, over two decades after its original release. Today they achieved a major coup by negotiating a deal to bring Tina Fey aboard as a producer and potential star.
The original featured a coven of witches, including Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker, being accidentally resurrected by a group of teenagers. It isn’t exactly a Disney classic but has since achieved something of a cult following following its release on Video subsequently Blu-Ray in 2012.
Apparently Disney have been trying to get Fey for a while saying that they were after “leads in the vein of Tina Fey and Melissa McCarthy.” No news about whether McCarthy has joined yet has been released but with her and Fey as a potential double-act, this suddenly sounds a lot more interesting to us.
