Tarantino Shelves Plans For The Hateful Eight

Director Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that he has put his next production The Hateful Eight on hold following the script being leaked.

The news was announced last week that Quentin Tarantino would be following up Django Unchained with another Western, The Hateful Eight. This set his fans into raptures as an internet leak revealed that he would be working on the project. However, he has today advised that due to a copy of his first draft also getting out, he would now be shelving the film for the moment.

He told Deadline“I’m very, very depressed, I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn’t mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it’s gotten out today.”

He went on to say that he had given it to one of the producers on Django Unchained, Reggie Hudlin“and he let an agent come to his house and read it. That’s a betrayal, but not crippling because the agent didn’t end up with the script. There is an ugly maliciousness to the rest of it”.

He also says that he gave it to three actors: Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern and Tim Roth, stating “The one I know didn’t do this is Tim Roth. One of the others let their agent read it and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood”.

The unfortunate conclusion to all of this was left to the end, where he said “I’m not making this next…. I gave it out to six people and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got ten more where that came from.”

He has said that he may well release the script as a novel though by repeatedly stating that he wants to publish it instead and is expected to speak to publishers this week.

A potential third film in the Kill Bill series has also previously been mentioned but as of yet there is no word on its stage of development.
