In a galaxy not too far away, it has been revealed that the upcoming Star Wars film will take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi.
LucasFilm have said: “a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.” This could mean that the familiar faces of Luke, Han and Leia could return which excites fans. Quick to squash rumours and keep the mystery was Mark Hamill. He burst onto screens in 1977 playing Luke Skywalker, however Hamill commented that one familiar character will return and that been R2-D2: “The only character I know for sure is returning is my friend R2-D2. He hasn’t stopped beeping about it.” The droid was one of a few characters who appeared in every film of the franchise.
With the story set 30 years on, it has been suggested that Luke may have a padawan and training his apprentice to become a Jedi Knight. Other rumours have stated that Han Solo and Princess Leia have kids which the upcoming trilogy is based around.
Director J.J Abrams and his team begin shooting the film’s principal photography at London’s Pinewood Studios in May.
Star Wars: Episode VII will hit our screens on December 18, 2015.
