Star Wars Episode 7 Filming Begins

Filming has begun for the highly anticipated franchise film Star Wars VII

Filming has begun for the highly anticipated franchise film Star Wars VII. Director JJ Abram’s production company Bad Robot tweeted the image with the hashtag #dayone of the film’s clapperboard.

Episode VII is being filmed at the famous Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, which is the first time that JJ Abrams has filmed outside the United States. The films marks the return of original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrier Fisher and Mark Hamill who have roles in the upcoming film.

New cast members include Daisy Ridley, who has had small roles in BBC’s Casualty. John Boyega appeared in the sci-fi film Attack the Block. Little is known about their roles but the two, along with Domhnall Gleeson are rumoured to play a new trio of lead characters in the franchise.

Also returning  are fan favourites Anthony Daniels as C3PO and Kenny Baker as R2-D2 who have appeared in all six of the Star Wars films as well as Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.

Star Wars Episode VII is set 35 years on from Return of the Jedi.  The film is planned for release in December 2015.
