With the unexpected success (based on the underwhelming original) of Captain America: The Winter Soldier earlier on this year, the film’s directors, The Russo Brothers, have already signed on to direct the Caps third outing.
They took some time out of their schedule to talk to Yahoo and discuss theirs and Marvel’s plans for the next movie. It sounds like the major themes from The Winter Soldier will carry on in the next film with the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D and rise of Hyrda.
“The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose. So it’s hard to get away from that nature,” Anthony told the site. “It’s also important that Captain America doesn’t become another disillusioned antihero.” His brother, Joe also added that: “His morality is part of his superpower.”
Other recent announcements have revealed that the new movie will put a twist on what happened in The Winter Soldier and that Rodgers’ old friend, Bucky Barnes, will also be returning alongside his new one, Sam Wilson AKA Falcon. The directors will also have to contend with what Avengers: Age Of Ultron has in store for Cap.
The movie has a current release date of May 6 2016 which shows great confidence of the studios because they will be going up directly against DC’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. The Russo Brothers will also be involved in the TV series, Agent Carter, which sees Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter return.
