Roll up, roll up! To witness perhaps the greatest show on earth! As if rap superstar Jay-Z hasn’t conquered enough already he will be sprinkling his midas touch on the movie world – with the helps of Ron Howard.
The film will shoot Jay-Z’s first-ever two-day festival, which he is curating and headlining September 1st and 2nd, taking place in Philadelphia. Other artists such as Pearl Jam, Run-DMC, Drake, Skrillex, Rick Ross, Miike Snow, Odd Future, and Janelle Monáe are so far signed up with Jay-Z’s missus Beyonce also rumored to play.
Ron Howard, who’s director portfolio includes ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’, has said this will not just be “a concert film” but “a reflection of the fabric of what it means to be Made in America – what the festival represents, why Jay is doing it and how he relates to each artist.”
The director has also teamed up with Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer behind films like ‘8 Mile’, ‘Apollo 13’ and ‘American Gangster’ and who told The Rolling Stone recently the movie will “be born through Jay-Z’s perspective, how he puts the event together and creates this musical event that defies all genres.”
Exciting stuff. Titled ‘Jay-Z’s Budweiser Made in America’ – if you can’t get over to Philly to attend at least you’ll be able to see it on the big screen due to be released sometime in 2013.
