The first trailer for Twentieth Century Fox’s latest animation, Rio 2, has just been released onto the world wide web.
It was a bit of a surprise that the first film was as much of a success as it was, taking almost £500m at the box-office and in a world where studio’s are looking for follow-ups to established movies, Rio 2 is the latest in a long-line of recently confirmed animated sequels.
The trailer showcases our hero’s as both Rio (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) as they fly around the Amazon rainforest looking for Jewel’s long-lost father Eduardo (Andy Garcia) and meeting all sorts of bizarre characters on the way.
Jermaine Clement’s Cockatoo antagonist, Nigel, is also returning, and here’s hoping that he steals the show again with his brilliant wit and dry humour.
It comes from the makers of Ice-Age and so it seems to have found it’s place in the market and will probably be another hit for the studio.
Rio 2 is out over here in the UK in April of next year and the trailer is below:
