Ridley Scott appears to have a thing for Biblical stories at the moment. He has just finished filming Exodus: Gods and Kings based on the classic story of Moses and now it appears he is planning on developing another Old Testament prophet; David.
Scott is one of the busiest directors around with many irons in the fire and so we’re not sure how much actual involvement he will have, but 20th Century Fox have hired Jonathan Stokes to write the script and Scott is on board to develop the idea. It will be produced by his Exodus partner, Chernin Entertainment.
In case you don’t know the story; David was a normal man who took on a giant warrior called Goliath who threatens to destroy his town. Despite the massive size difference, David manages to defeat him with just a slingshot and a stone between the eyes.
David will join Exodus and Darren Aronofsky’s Noah as a recent glut of Old Testament adaptations, but when production will start is not yet known.
