A new poster featuring Sullivan Stapleton as the Greek leader Themistocles in the upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire has been released. The new protagonist is featured wielding a sword as blood flies off of it, in a way that truly captures the spirit of the 300 franchise.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, which is told in the breathtaking visual style of the previous phenomenon 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield on the sea. The film will take place before, during and after the events of the first film.
300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistocles against the massive invading Persian forces led the mortal-turned-god Xerxes and Artemisia, a vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
It will be seven years since the first movie, 300, has been released. It leaves fans of the franchise wondering if the sequel will exceed audiences expectations and become a box office success.
Directed by Noam Murro and starring Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green, 300: Rise of an Empire will open in the UK on March 7, 2014.
